Potential for re-rating after performance turnaround
Asia Dragon Trust aims to deliver capital growth by investing primarily in large, listed companies in Asia, excluding Japan and Australasia. The fund was launched in 1987 and has been managed by Adrian Lim of Aberdeen Standard Investments since 2013, with Pruksa Iamthongthong joining as co-portfolio manager in 2019. The fund has a relatively strong long-term performance record, delivering a NAV total return of +150% over the last ten years, which represents an outperformance of its benchmark, the MSCI AC Asia ex Japan Index (+130%) but an underperformance of the Asia Pacific peer group (+194%). As shown in the table below, the fund has consistently outperformed its benchmark in recent years, while underperforming its peer group. The fund has a £654m market cap and the historical dividend yield currently stands at 0.9%.
