Emerging opportunities at a wider discount
Aberdeen New India* aims to deliver long-term capital growth by investing in India. The fund was launched in 1994 and is managed by Kristy Fong and James Thom at abrdn. The portfolio is relatively concentrated, consisting of 43 holdings as at 30 September. Investments are diversified across sectors, with overweight allocations to Financials, Consumer Staples and Information Technology. Aberdeen New India has a well-established bottom-up investment approach, targeting high quality companies with high barriers to entry, solid balance sheets and pricing power. The fund has outperformed its MSCI India benchmark over the past ten years on a NAV total return basis, while outperforming the India peer group over the past three and five years. The NAV total return over the last twelve months is +35.2%, compared with +42.2% for the benchmark and +35.6% for the peer group.
