Hansa Investment Company* was launched in 1912 and in 2019 it re-domiciled from the UK to Bermuda. The portfolio manager is Hansa Capital Partners LLP and the investment team is headed by Alec Letchfield, who is the named manager of the fund. Alec Letchfield is a partner of Hansa Capital Partners, having joined as Chief Investment Officer in September 2013. The fund has 40m ordinary shares and 80m non-voting ‘A’ shares; Directors of Hansa Investment Company currently own 28.1% of the ordinary share capital and 4.6% of the ‘A’ share capital.
The objective of Hansa Investment Company is to achieve NAV growth over the medium to long-term by investing in a diversified and multi-strategy portfolio. The aim is to create a long-term, non-index correlated portfolio of investments, which often would not normally be available for investment to individual investors. The portfolio comprises holdings in funds and listed equities, while it also owns 26.5% of Ocean Wilsons Holdings, an investment holding company comprising Wilson Sons, a Brazilian port, maritime and logistics services company, and Ocean Wilsons Investments, a portfolio of funds.
